G McFadden Civil Engineers Ltd was appointed by John Sisk & Son to deliver the M11
Junction 8 Improvements Scheme, a crucial 1.6km project designed to alleviate
congestion and improve traffic flow. The project scope included:
Adding an additional approach lane from the M11 Junction 8 northbound and
southbound exit slips onto the A120.
Replacing the A120/A1250 roundabout with a signalised junction to meet future traffic
demand.
Widening the A120 to three lanes and adding dedicated turn lanes for A1250 and
Birchanger Lane traffic.
Realigning Birchanger Lane for safer, more efficient access to the A120 and
A1250.Creating new footways and cycleways, including safer crossings for pedestrians
and cyclists.
Despite challenges with heavy traffic and restricted traffic management, G McFadden
Civil Engineers Ltd successfully completed the works, enhancing the junction’s capacity
and safety.
